For Sale

Our main market is selling Purebred Registered Show Quality stud stock to future breeders. We also offer  super quiet, halter trained highland and highland x steers to hobby farmers and BnB Owners.

Stud Stock

Please be careful: A lot of scammers have been using our facebook and website photos to scam people into buying fake highlands. I ask all potenitial buyers to visit the farm and my highlands to ensure you and the highland are the best possible fit.

If someone is asking for a deposit first, its not Vagabond Highlands, its a scam.

Our highlands are also not cheap but if you consider they will be with you for 20+ years its worth investing in the very best fit for you. All stud stock are born and bred in Queensland for Queensland conditions. Purebred Registered animals will be paddock friendly, vaccinated with full animal husbandry records and registered with the Australian Highlands Cattle Society., The point of difference for our cattle is we breed for temperment  above all else so every weaner calf will be fully halter trained with all the hard work done so you can just enjoy them. When you buy a Vagabond Highland animal, you don’t need to know everything about cattle, just a willingness to learn. Each highland comes with ongoing support including the opportunity to come out to the farm and learn all the skills you need as well as phone support post sale to help in any way you need.

Remember cattle are herd animials so you will need to own atleast two (both don’t need to be highland). You will also need a simple set of cattle yards to undertake animal husbandry, adequate fencing, feed and water and a PIC number. Jules is happy offer advice if requested.

We currently have some purebred registered steer or bull calves $12,000 to $18 000+GST. All will be weaned at about 6-9 months fully vaccinated and halter trained. When we do sell Heifers and Cows they are usually $20,000 to $25 000 +GST.

Please contact us for more details.

Cutie and Special

His mother is first time mum Twinkle of Vagabond and his father is Am Prionnsa Odhar of Bairnsley. As with Cutie we are still waiting for DNA and registration with the AHCS.
Both boys are vaccinated for 7 in 1 and tickfever and will be sold fully halter trained. You are most welcome to come and meet the boys. Asking $14k +gst each (discount if buying both).

Black Bullet

Vagabond highland cows

Black Bullet is walk up and pat in the paddock friendly and has had multiple exposure to strangers approaching him. I have recently steered him as I think he would be perfect for someone new to cattle or BnB owners/wedding venues. He can easily have a halter put on him in the paddock and lead back to the yards and walks through the race with ease. He was awarded Champion Bull calf at the Royal Toowoomba Show 2024. Judges comments included length of body and beautiful neck extension. He was born on the 4th of August 2023 and is now 15 months old and is developing a beautiful set of horns. He is purebred and registered with the Australian Highland Cattle Society  No 10276. He looks unique compared to our other highlands as his father Skye High Cornerstone was bred in America for the US Highland Society. He is significantly bigger than the other boys his age (he is standard size not miniature) Asking $9k +GST  discounted from $15K as he is now a steer. He is fully vaccinated for 7 in 1 and tick fever and has been exposed to ticks, lantana and fireweed for his whole life. Being bred in Qld conditions makes him the ideal steer to live in all parts of Queensland. All Vagabond Highlands cattle come with ongoing support which makes the transition to owning highlands stress free. Contact us if you’d like videos of Black Bullet or would like to arrange to come and meet him.

Bill of Ardvorlich

our Purebred Highland Bull

gogo 1

-Bill’s favourite thing to do is hang out with me and eat lucerne cubes off the back of the quadbike. I bought him less than 12 months ago as a mop-up bull after I did AI with my cows. I’m pleased to announce he has got 100% of my cows he has been with pregnant (confirmed by blood tests and more recently live calves on the ground). He is a gentle giant who moves through the cattle race by turning his head down and on an angle to get his horns through. He has never ever shown any aggression and enjoys being with his herd. He is purebred registered AHCS number 8757 and is 7 years old.  I bought Bill to be our herd sire until our young bull Peter Pan is at breeding age which he will be in the near future (hence the planned sale of Bill). Bill was fully vet checked before I bought him and is up to date on his 7 in 1 and had his tick fever vaccine. We are in ticky country with fireweed and lantana and he copes well with the heat here in Qld. Having previous exposure to ticks is so important as adult bulls with no immunity are very vunerable. He would make someone a great paddock bull and potentially a good lease bull. You would need a truck to transport him but I can organise a stock inspector if you’d like to take him up on the downs. Asking $8000+GST (neg if you buy other vagabond cattle). Please message me if you would like a video or Bill or would like to meet him.

Paddock Stock

Our paddock stock consists of purebred unregistered highlands, cross bred highlands and a few special rare breed Sussex. They are used to being put through the cattle yards and handled by us. Most people who buy our paddock stock are first time farmers who would like to learn on cattle with all the hard work already done before buying the purebred registered stock..

We currently have some cross bred highland calves for sale when they are weaned at about 6-9 months fully vaccinated and halter trained. Please contact us for more details.

Tommy and Leaf

flower's steer

Taking Tommy was born on the 24/07/2024 and was super cute from day one. He is the only calf from my first miniature embryo transfer program. His biological mother is my smallest highland and I imported miniature highland straws from America. His surroate mother is the most gentle Angus x fresian cow who puts all her energy into her milk. This has resulted in Tommy having excellent growth rates. After watching him grow I’ve made the difficult decision to steer him so he’ll make the perfect pet. I am looking at selling him unregistered now with his surrogate mum Leaf. I currently have Leaf running with my purebred highland bull Bill so their buyer will have another calf in the future. Tommy is currently a paddock calf however I am happy to halter train him prior to sale. Please contact me if you’d like to see a video or like to meet them. Selling $10 000 for the pair now or for just Tommy at weaning.

Sussex cows with highland x calves

maz

Sussex Cows with Highland x babies.

Maz and Tori are 2 of our Sussex cows who just had the most adorable calves with our purebred registered Highland Bull.  Sussex are a rare British breed that my grandfather originally bred many years ago. I purchased these girls from my uncle a few of years ago as I thought they would make a good cross with excellent temperament. I would guess their age is about 6. When crossed with my purebred highland bull they produce the most amazing red coloured animals (similar to Jaffa sold above). They produce horned or polled calves. I usually sell the calves to hobby farmers and BnB owners at weaning age however I’ve decided to now specialise in purebred highlands only and therefore decided to sell these girls as cow and calf units. They are back running with my purebred highland bull.  They are paddock cows and not halter trained like my purebred highlands but easily move through the cattle yards. Maz is cautious of strangers. They could be used as future recips.

Roo was one of my recip cows and produced a beautiful highland heifer calf which unfortunately got attached by a dog. I had prepped her ready  for her next embryo transfer and she was deemed ‘A’ grade but I’d put my last embryo in an angus cow. She is now pregnant to our purebred highland bull and is due to calve about the  23/02/25.

Tori (orange eartag) had highland x bull calf born 12/9/2024 $4500+gst

Maz (red tag) had highland x heifer calf born 11/9/2024 $5500+gst

Roo (blue tag) $5000+gst

Significantly discounted by $500/cow if you buy all three. I usually sell my halter trained weaner crossbreds for more than these cow/calf unit!!

Angus x Friesian heifers incalf to highland bull

Petal

Mia, Sadie and Zoe were bought as potiential recips as part of my journey into embryo transfer as surrogates.  I ran out of embryos so these girls have been running with my purebred highland bull and are confirmed pregnant (their calves will  be highland cross). Sadie is preg tested incalf (due 17/2/24) and Mia and Zoe are pregnant (blood test confirmed) and likely due about mid march 2025.

They are lovely quiet cows who come up for a pat and eat out of your hand. They are the perfect cows if you have never owned cattle before or if you’d like to do embryo transfer in the future. They have all been full vaccinated for 7 in 1, tick fever, pesti, vibrio etc as required to be a recip.  I chose angus x friesian as they are very fertile, have a good milk supply and are great mums. They would be an ideal future recips and in the meantime you would get a beautiful highland x baby. I would keep these girls but don’t think I’ll do a further embryo transfer program in the next 12 months.

Midnight is my quietest angus x fresian cow who lost her calf at birth. She has turned into the most amazing foster mum to little chip. She would make a great future house cow (I was able to hand milk her to keep her colostrum for future calves and to foster Chip onto her). Having a cow who accepts foster calves is an asset to any herd. Selling as a cow/calf unit.

Asking $4500+GST each or $4000+GST if you buy 2 or more.
